my wish list

A 3-4 weight rod and reel outfit, and an 8 or 10 weight outfit.

Some of the spots that I fish don’t have particularly large fish, and it feels like I’m just yarding them in with my 6 weight.  I would think that a lighter outfit would also be a bit more sensitve to subtle takes.

For an 8 or 10 weight setup, I’m thinking something inexpensive, and rugged.  For pike fishing – as there are a lot of lakes in Alberta that have pike (and also walleye).

I might also keep my eyes open on a deal for another 6 weight rod (I still have my SA reel and extra spools), to use as an alternate rig – perhaps keeping it set up with a floater for chironomid fishing…

Breathable waders

Since getting the pontoon boat, and this past week in particular, I think that I need some lighter, more comfortable waders.  My current Bare waders were like a sauna suit (not that I couldn’t stand losing a pound or two), but I already have a sauna at home – and I go there when I really want to get a sweat going. I believe Hodgsons has some relatively affordable ones – in the $120 range.

Filson Wading Jacket

Would also like to get another fly line…a heavier full sink line… a weight forward 4 or 5 I think might help round out my lines, along with a mesh creel…I like to keep the odd fish.

A new fishing/paddling hat
Filson Shelter Cloth Packer Hat Not sure exactly what I would like, but I’m thinking along the lines of either a Filson or a Bailey hat.Bailey hat

Fly tying bench

I would like to make a fly tying station, perhaps 2…a smaller, more portable version, and another one for home. I’ve been looking around at various sites trying to see what I like, here are a few ideas:
