Sorry about the lack of posting – however it is sadly indicative of the amount of fishing I’ve done this summer
The last fishing trip was actually the trip to BC back in June! At least a fall trip is in the works and days off have been approved – by both bosses ;^)
Will definitely be reporting back a lot sooner – probably beginning of October anyway.
Cheers!

The fly tying club that I’m a member of, the Northern Lights Fly Tyers and Fishers is no more. Well, at least the name is no more ;^)
Last year, circumstances forced the Edmonton chapter of Trout Unlimited to shut down. I believe it was related to lack of participation by members to administer the chapter, as well as the size of the membership. There was a core group of people that were taking care of the administration for years, and they just couldn’t do it anymore.
Last night (unfortunately I had to miss the meeting) the Northern Lights Fly Tyers and Fishers formally (and unanimously) voted to change the club charter and name – and as a result, is now an official chapter of Trout Unlimited. The name of the club is now Northern Lights Fly Tyers – Trout Unlimited Edmonton
I think that this is a good thing for sure – there was a lot of overlap in terms of the aims of the 2 organizations – likely a result of the orginal Northern Lights club being formed as a result of some T.U. members that were into tying flies!

We’ve decided on the area for our big spring fishing trip – and this year we decided to go out of province, to the White Swan/Top of the World area! A couple people from the local Jeep club have mentioned that there’s some awesome wheeling to be had, along with some spectacular fishing – mentioning a story of a 26lb trout being caught in the area 3 years ago!
Can’t wait!
End May, beginning of June can’t come soon enough!

Went out west of the city, at a small pond just south of the North Saskatchewan with Shan and Rob this afternoon. I had the first hit, 2nd cast, just after we arrived – but unfortunately lost the fish just before getting it to shore. By the end of the afternoon, I had landed 2, and lost 2. Not sure how many Rob lost, but he landed 5!
Shan ended up landing one for the afternoon – but he was testing out a new rod ;^) (That’s his story… and he’ll be sticking to it I’m sure! lol)
Was a great afternoon to get out!

Finally got around to renewing my fishing license. Thought I had to renew my WIN card, but turns out okay until 2013!
Our pontoon boat frames haven’t got back from North Fork Outdoors yet, but going to go wet a line tomorrow afternoon for a few hours anyway.
Should be fun!
