I’m becoming pretty disappointed at the customer service from North Fork Outdoors. The frame component with the crushed wheel mount was never replaced, and all 3 pontoon boat frames have major issues with the powder coat separating from the aluminum. Something is definitely not right.

I have contacted them – most recently via email, and the response was to phone later and talk to Dave. Sorry, but having an email record is kind of nice from my perspective. Waited all of last week for a response, and received none – so today I phoned them – twice, both times an answering machine.

If someone were to ask me for a product recommendation today, I certainly wouldn’t be recommending a Scadden product – purely based on customer service. It’s too bad, as the pontoon boats are nice (despite the powder coating and shipping damage).

Well, had a problem with my old site host (1and1.com) – after my chosen payment method for services quit working for them. Spent a couple hours on the phone with both 1and1 as well as PayPal, and thought things were okay a month or so ago (no news is good news). Then Friday morning when I discovered that I had no access to email or the sites.

I phoned them up, to try and find out what’s going on, and see what I could do to get things going again. The support was non-existent – and the options that were offered all revolved around using a credit card – which I choose not to do. This information was conveyed in an arrogant manner, and I ended up just saying screw you – I’ll spend my money elsewhere.

Went to BlueHost.com, picked a hosting package and domain, selected PayPal again as my payment method. Amazingly (extremely thick sarcasm), there was no problem at all… the entire transaction and payment was completed within minutes, and within 30 minutes, had WordPress installed, and the new domain up and running.

SO…. as you may notice, there’s a bit of a gap in posts, as the last backup I did was a couple months ago. I’ll see if I can get my database and email off of the 1and1 servers next week and restore them, but I’m not going to hold my breath.

—

Well, 1and1 proves their lameness again – received 3 statements from a collection agency. I asked 1&1 for a final bill and place to send payment to – I guess they use collection agencies as a billing service provider. I called the agency, and couldn’t even talk to anyone there – was on hold for just over 30 minutes – listening to loud classical musing – oh joy!

On the plus side, I at least have an alternative means of getting this mess over with – and all over $60 – and inflexible payment options – that they chose to change. I had been using them since early 2003. I can’t believe the hoops and hassles 1and1 chooses to put customers through – customer service is dead at 1and1.

Went camping this past weekend…actually went to Jasper, which I haven’t actually been to in a few years.

First thing I noticed was at the park gates… and the nice user fee. $16/day for the family. Oh, and the days end at 4:00 PM in Jasper. I asked the attendant…”You’re kidding me…out of the park by 4:00?” Her reply was, “Oh don’t worry…we’re lenient.” Where does Parks Canada find these people?

The next hit was at the campground…$19.00/night, but that was typical…we’re used to those fees in Alberta. However, they add $7.00/day fire permit, but then you can use as much firewood as you care to. They also have a “Fire Ban” between Midnight & 6:00 AM. To keep out the rowdies apparently.

I don’t think that the fee’s would irk me as they do, IF I knew that ALL the money went back into the park. However, I think that the fees just go into general revenue, providing Mr.Martin with more money to not keep track of.
