Starting to get pumped… Reading a few posts of people getting out on the Bow River, and other locations south of here, flipping through fly fishing books and magazines just fuels the desire even more.

A couple friends and myself have set the date for our annual June excursion, and have the first week tentatively booked off. We’re really anxious to get the new pontoon boats (just ordered them last week) out on the water…. so I suspect that we’ll probably try them out on some more local waters before the big trip.

I’ve been trying to get more time in on the vise – doing up a bunch of Czech nymphs, and want to try more dry flies – so I’m doing up a variety of mayfly’s and caddis flies. All this along with the usual Muddler Minnows, TU mutants, and woolly buggers.

Yes – this is where any and all new content is going to be put – it largely looks the same, but the server is now somewhere on the eastern seaboard I believe ;^)

I’ve been running the site out of my basement for years – and the server has definitely seen better days.  I think that its time to retire the P3-600 for good now. With the relocation, I didn’t manage to get the user accounts moved over  – just the content (and still working on one of the photo galleries).  The new home is with 1&1, who I have been using for approx. 4 years – for site development projects, domain parking and DNS services.  I’ve been very happy with them.  Anytime that I’ve had any issues, a phone call typically was all it took – and I think that in 4 years, I’ve had to call them once!

I suppose the server retiring is just one excuse for the move – the other is that I’m finding that I just don’t have the spare cycles to look after keeping the server current.  I have upgraded the OS a few times – but the time needed to get a new server built and configured just doesn’t seem to be there.  So, all my web and mail stuff is going to 1&1 now – and I’ll soon have one less computer running in the house!

This world sure seems small sometimes -

Turns out that there are a few fly tying club members that used to play Unreal Tournament – and played on the server that myself and Dragon Troller (aka Shan) used to run on damclan.com (no longer use that domain).

Maybe I should dust off my copy of UT this winter, or perhaps try the upcoming version, and do a LAN!

A freind and I are going to head out to Muir this evening with our tubes.  It’s his first trip of the season, and my first trip with the tube.  Apparently there have been some decent fish pulled out of there so far this year!  Will post a full report later tonight!

This weekend is a presentation hosted by the Northern Lights Fly Tyers and Fishers, with these two authors of some excellent fly fishing and fly tying books. This evening members of the NLFT got a little preview, and I’m really looking forward to the next two days!

Jim Schollmeyer talked about a fishing trip that he and Dave went on last month, to Patagonia, Chile! Looked incredible despite the weather they had…. and certainly looked like an awesome experience. Maybe if I win the 649 one day
