Flies of the Northwest (1974)I came across this pattern in a book that belonged to my grandfather, called Flies of the Northwest. The book was published by the Inland Empire Fly Fishing Club back in 1974. The data for the fly states that it is a “popular Canadian lake fly”, and it reminded me of another fly that I have used a lot, the T.U.

I tied a version up that I’m quite pleased with, and will be interesting to see how it fishes. My version of the fly uses a burlap body with siver oval rib instead of the yellow wool and gold rib. For the brown and blue hackle and tail, I used pheasant rump. The books recipe didn’t specify, but I used light Mallard flank feathers. Looks pretty close to what they pictured I think.
