An evening of fishing – Muir Lake
A freind and I are going to head out to Muir this evening with our tubes. It’s his first trip of the season, and my first trip with the tube. Apparently there have been some decent fish pulled out of there so far this year! Will post a full report later tonight!

Well, we got skunked.
Tried pretty much everything, we each had a couple hits (very subtle ones), but no fish landed. There wasn’t much surface activity – only a few rises around the lake.
However, it was a beautiful evening, water was calm, winds were light. It was easy kicking to get around the lake. The island must have had 30-40 geese on it, making a huge racket.
So, despite the lack of fish, it was still great getting out on the water!
What were you chucking Ray?
My choices would have been Black Crystal Flash Wooly buggers, or backswimmers.
Gonna go hunt Pike on Monday with Scratchy.
Didn’t try a black wooly bugger – tried a couple that were darker brown and green, along with beadhead prince, darker and lighter choronomids patterns.
Might head out there again Monday and try some black leech patterns and backswimmers as you suggested :^)
Have fun with the toothy critters!
