The Wallywing Method

The Wallywing Method

I’m participating in another fly swap, this time a Classic Wallywing Flies swap. Having never tied a Wallywing before (haven’t tied many dry flies at all to be honest), I figured it was an opportunity to learn something new.

The above link to the Wallywing Method is an excellent How-To – I was practicing last night, and tied my first 2 wallywings ever. I’m pretty pleased with how they turned out… now to do a real pattern… I think for this swap I’ll do a Light Cahill.

Here are my first 2 attempts at a Wallywing (no pattern intended here…. just used what was laying around at the moment.

Heh heh, actually Wally credits me by name with giving this technique it’s name in a published magazine. Aye, was blown away the first time I seen it. The Caddis version works quite well too. :)
