Chukar and Copper

Posted at 5:49 pm under fly tying

Chukar and CopperWas watching “Fly Tying – The Angler’s Art” this morning, and one of the patterns they tied was this Chukar and Copper. Funny that they didn’t have any background information on it… I Google’d it, and found that the first page returned is actually that of a good freind’s father.

A nice easy fly to tie, I’ll test it out when we go to Pierre Greys in a couple weeks! Can’t wait for that trip!

  • Hook: Standard Wet Sproat, size 10,12 or 14
  • Thread: Brown
  • Body: Soft Copper wire, 28 to 30 gauge. Preferably oxidized
  • Hackle: Dark Blue Dun Chukar Partridge body feather

I tied one up, substituting pheasant rump ( with a lot of blue in it) in place of the partridge feather. Looks pretty good I think.
