Yes, I’m still anxious!

Well, Muir Lake is close by…just a few minutes from the city. I suspect that it will be the first trip this year.

Have you checked out maps.google.com yet? Very cool stuff. I can see this becoming a fishermans best freind to find the new spots…as most of the images are newer than most maps that you can buy…so its easier to see the cut lines, and sections of road that you don’t normally see on any regular map.

The lake was stocked a couple years ago after some local groups got together, raised some money, and installed a couple aerators into the lake. Last year was the first year that the lake was open to fishing, and towards the fall, reports of 18-19″ trout were heard.

The lake, intended as a trophy lake, has special regulations. You can’t keep anything smaller than 50cm, and there are reduced limits, of 1 or 2/day iirc.

I suspect that first weekend in May, the lake will be a zoo. I think that an evening out there after work would be better :)

Getting anxious!

This weekend I took my son to the Outdoors Trade show put on by Camper’s Village and the Fishin’ Hole. Lots of cool stuff to look at, and the little guy had a blast trying out a fishing simulator, and landed a big bass :D

Didn’t buy much, other than a couple magazines…. the new FlyFusion, and the 2005 Barry Mitchell Fishing Guide.

Can’t wait to hit the water!
Plans are already made for a trip up to Sulphur Lake, just north of Peace River…this will be happening first week of June.

Have to get motivated and start tying some flys up…and also get all the gear organized.

I do want to replace my fins this year…the ones I picked a couple years ago are just a touch too snug once I get the waders on (they’re 3.5mil neoprene), and while I can handle it for a while, after a few hours on the water, it can be a bit painful.
