August 10, 2003 : Swan Lake
August 10, 2003 : Swan Lake, compared to last year, the fishing was poor. Three of us went, all with tubes. I only caught a couple 12″, and 1 17″ bow. All were released. Hooked one nice fish that broke my tippet on it’s third leap out of the water…looked like it would have been around 4lbs..maybe even more..but he got away ;^)
The other 2 guys I went with didn’t fare any better, but one managed to land a really nice 20″ bow. The lake was experiencing an algae bloom, and the night before was extremely stormy, lots of rain and lightning. When we started out that morning, the temp was 3°C, very misty/cloudy. Quite the shock considering it was 27 degrees and sunny the day before! ANyway, a little after noon the clouds broke a bit, and we did get some sun….enough to get a decent sunburn!
